LaiLaiLa

Artist: [George Lee Larnyoh]

$1.49

Released in 1984 the album was immediately hailed as a quality indie.

SEA SHELLS was taken by the popular and long running BBC TV Arts programme Ebony for their theme tune.

BIG G was recorded by South African band leader Chris McGregor leader of the famed Brotherhood of Breath big band. (Country Cooking - Virgin - 1989)

SIMONE recorded by Jimmy Dludlu in 2002

LAILAILA was released again in 2004 on the popular UK compilation AFRIKA UNDERGROUND

It was after an inspirational trip to Mozambique in 1984 that ANANSI was formed in the UK and the album recorded. That Mozambique tour with Chris McGregor is the reason George Lee is in South Africa today.

One of the 6 Presidents that George Lee has played for over the years was Joachim Chissano, who in 1984 was the Mozambican Secretary of State for foreign affairs, and would become president after the death of Samora Marchel. George was to form close relationships with Mozambique and travelled there often inspired by the passion of Chissano.
